Brand Review - Procana

Brand Review: Procana

As more and more new brands flood the CBD scene, it's becoming harder and harder for the truly good brands to stand out.

At ProHealth CBD Store, one of our goals is to do the hard work of curating and finding premium CBD providers for you. So it's only fitting that we'd stand behind one of the industry's most established brands - one that's managed to stay at the forefront of the hemp industry even with things being as crowded as they are now.

That brand is called Procana… and this article will be all about them. Think of it as a buyer's guide, if you will.

The Story Behind The Brand

Procana and hemp go way back.

The brand was founded in 2013 - which truly is way back by hemp industry standards. 2014's Farm Bill was really what ushered in CBD in the first place; companies that came before that were either especially sketchy or especially forward-looking. Procana is definitely better described by the latter.

And unlike many other CBD companies, Procana's focus has been on medicinal products from the start. Their team is backed by leading doctors and scientists engaged in multiple medical studies, all in hopes of proving CBD's utility to all. Procana set the standard of GMP compliance early on, at a time when most other brands were still extracting CBD by hand in a garage or residential kitchen.

Today the momentum is still going. According to their website, Procana is currently studying various cannabinoid ratios to advance the future of CBD-based medicine. It's cutting edge stuff, and it's clearly benefited Procana's current lineup of products. Let's take a closer look.

The Products

Procana offers industry-leading products across several different categories. They produce CBD oils, softgels, vaporizers, topicals, and even pet products. Those who are especially enthusiastic can head on over to their online store and get hemp-centric T-shirts!

We'll start with a look at their classic CBD oil. Actually, two types of CBD oil - Procana offers both CBD isolate and a full spectrum oil they call Hemp Excel+. Both products are vegan, premium, and non-GMO. So far customers have left hundreds of 5-star reviews.

Next up are several different CBD-infused softgel options. CBD Balance seems especially good for anxiety; one of our customers says it brought her anxiety levels down “from a 10 to a 2." Pretty impressive for just 8 milligrams of CBD per serving!

Speaking of anxiety, customers who seek a little more calm in their lives often find a solution in CBD vape pens. The good news is that Procana offers a great one! Their CBD vaporizer features MCT oil as its base and derives its fresh menthol taste from 100% organic flavors.

As good as vaping may be, sometimes regular CBD isn't enough. Those with targeted aches and pains may well need something a little more powerful: the CBD topical. Procana has one - and it's a little unique. Their CBD + Arnica topical isn't an oil; it's a water-based spray. And it's not just CBD, either. Instead this topical features cannabidiol alongside two of the most powerful natural painkillers out there: menthol and arnica. Now you can experience relief from achy muscles and sore joints, no oily mess required.

Customers say it's both fast and effective. What really counts in this age of flashy marketing, after all, is customer feedback… and Procana's customers seem almost universally happy. Will you be among the next to join them?

The Pricing

You might be tempted to think that Procana's pricing would be just as lofty as their product quality. Thankfully that's not the case.

Instead Procana has opted to lead the way in yet another area: affordability. Their CBD isolate products are especially affordable, but even Procana's more novel stuff (like their vape pen) stays at the 10 cents-per-milligram-of-CBD mark. It's almost surprising that the brand's specially formulated Arnica Spray - packed with 375 milligrams of CBD - is only $25. Even their aforementioned branded T-shirts are on the affordable side.

The Research

While most Procana customers may not be directly impacted by this topic, it's still worth mentioning. Procana is more than just another CBD company - they're actually doing some very important scientific research into hemp's other cannabinoids.

As they rightfully point out on their website, most PubMed studies “ [consist] of abstracts on preclinical research involving single cannabinoid molecules, test tubes, petri dishes, [and] animal experiments […] ."

But there's a better way, and Procana is leading the charge by conducting real-world studies of their own. Here are just a few areas where their team of scientists is digging deep:

  • General Studies
  • ADD / ADHD
  • Addiction
  • AIDS / HIV
  • Alzheimer's Disease
  • ALS - Lou Gehrig's Disease
  • Anorexia
  • Antibiotic Resistance
  • Anxiety
  • Arthritis
  • Autism
  • Cancer
  • Crohn's Disease / Colitis
  • Depression

One can imagine it's only a matter of time before some serious breakthroughs are made. Research is often a thankless task, as it comes so far before public recognition… but Procana is doing it regardless. That's a worthy cause in our book.

Besides, who knows if their next set of findings generates the idea for new and novel CBD products? Personalized CBD is all too uncommon, even today, but research like this might provide the catalyst needed to change things.

Procana also places a premium on education. Their website's Cannabinoid Science page hosts one of the most accurate (and complex) descriptions of hemp's inner workings that we've ever seen. For ongoing education, Procana has a slightly more playful blog… one post relates to readers that "the best part of waking up… is CBD in your cup!" Hey, it's all about balance.

Ultimately, the CBD brand you choose is fully up to you. We only hope that in reading this you become aware of yet another good option - of the many good choices curated by our team at ProHealth.
